From the University, Dr Richard Blackburn, Dr Patrick McGowan and Professor Chris Rayner. It is the unique combination of skills of the founders that has led to the invention of the DyeCat process and continues to drive the company forwards.

Dr. Richard Blackburn brings experience of dye chemistry, polyester coloration and environmental sustainability issues surrounding dyeing and dyestuffs. He is currently a senior lecturer in the Centre for Technical Textiles, School of Design and Head of the Green Chemistry Group. Dr. Richard Blackburn
Dr. Patrick McGowan is a senior lecturer in the School of Chemistry and his skills are crucial for catalyst design and characterisation. As well as his teaching and administrative responsibilities, he also leads a research group which specialises in the development of new anti-cancer drugs and catalysts. He is the author of more than 40 publications and works in collaboration with a range of different Universities, as well as companies and charities including BP Chemicals, Johnson Matthey Ltd., Protherics Ltd., and Cancer Research U.K. Dr. Patrick McGowan
Professor Chris Rayner is Head of Organic Chemistry in the School of Chemistry and has a particular focus towards the development of environmentally benign methods for organic synthesis and materials processing. He has interests in novel continuous reaction technology (including photochemically induced reactions), natural product extraction and utilisation, and the chemistry of carbon dioxide. Dr. Chris Pask has several years’ research experience in various areas, ranging from investigations into new metallic and non-metallic magnetic materials to main group and transition metal chemistry. Prior to becoming senior scientist at DyeCat, he worked for a small nanotechnology materials company specializing in infrared applications. Dr. Chris Pask
Danny Lynham is an Investment Manager for IP Group plc, a business that specialises in the commercialisation of IP from research intensive institutions. IP Group's strength lies in creating value and developing businesses by identifying and establishing commercial opportunities and partnerships. Danny has a Masters degree in chemistry from the University of Nottingham, and has several years experience working in research institutions, large corporations and small spin-out companies. Danny joined IP Group in 2008 after working as lead scientist in another University of Leeds spin-out company. Danny Lynham
Dr Simon Lawson is the Director of ParticlesCIC, a Contract Service Organisation at the University of Leeds, providing commercial services to Industry in the UK and abroad. Before his appointment at Leeds, he worked in a number of companies ranging from SME to large corporations. Since 2000 he has successfully created two industry/academic centres, and won a prize for innovation. Simon has a first class degree in Materials Science and a PhD in Engineering Ceramics.
